I graduated from The Ohio State University in May of 2020, and since then, I have taken my credentialing exam and am now officially a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist! I have moved to Anderson, IN and am working at Selah House, a faith based center for women with eating disorders. I help to create meal plans, counsel them on food beliefs and correct nutrition information, as well as lead cooking and experiential groups to help clients get more familiar with the world of “food”. We create new recipes weekly and challenge food beliefs and fears surrounding these each week, as well as participate in eating the meals together. Once COVID is no longer a thing, we will also begin to take clients to restaurants and grocery stores for challenges and helping adjust back to normal life. I love being able to spread correct nutrition information and help with a field that is so hard to navigate with the societal pressures that many people often deal with surrounding weight and food. I also have just recently gotten engaged! I am planning to move back to Columbus, OH next summer to start life with my fiancé. I hope to make a return to North Carolina soon, but am living life right now out in the Midwest until things settle a little bit from COVID!

After graduation I took an assistant project manager position with the company I had been interning for during college, Compass Homes. They are a custom home builder here in the Columbus area. Also, after playing on the OSU Club Football team my senior year, I have taken an assistant coaching role with the team. I currently live in New Albany, OH. Thank you so much for all of the support you guys gave me through my years at Ohio State. You all mean so much to me and I’m so happy to be a part of the massive OSU alumni family.  Thanks again for everything.

I would like to thank you and the rest of the OSU Alumni Club for renewing my scholarship, it really means a lot. My family and I are doing well and adjusting to these challenging times. I am currently in the process of packing up to move back to Columbus for the fall semester and this will be the first year that I am living off campus. My friends and I are renting an apartment together. I’m still waiting to find out how many of my classes will be in person as Ohio State continues to adjust to the challenges of COVID-19. Over these past few months I have been working here in Raleigh as a job site manager for the same roofing company I worked for last year. It has kept me busy and provided me the opportunity to save some money for college expenses.

I will be a junior at OSU this fall! This summer, I have been keeping busy with classes such as organic chemistry and sociology. I have been learning to cook various dishes like pizza and zucchini bread! I am currently unsure about my fall plans, but I will most likely be heading back to campus to complete my fall semester in Columbus.

This summer I have been at home in Raleigh with family and we’ve been lucky enough to all stay healthy through this time. I have also been working at a Fedex warehouse for the past couple of months which keeps me plenty busy. I’m still planning on returning to campus in the fall; however, I have yet to hear if I am going to get the dorm that I was originally assigned. I’m also preparing for the possibility of being online for the fall semester as many other schools have already chosen to be online.
Thanks so much for the support you and the alumni club give and thanks for the scholarship as well. I appreciate all that you and the alumni club do for us students.

As a Flight Student at OSU, I am in a very unique situation in terms of the continuation of instruction. When classes ended in March, the flight school closed and I was forced to return home to the Triangle. As I have been not able to progress my flying as it must be done at OSU, I have renting airplanes and flying around the Triangle to keep my skills and proficiency. The flight school at OSU has now since re-opened, but it would not make sense for me to go to Columbus before the school year begins. Now, as more and more classes are being moved online, and with more colleges and universities moving fully online, I decided it would be best for me to cancel my housing contract and move off campus. I am looking forward to this new challenge of managing monthly rent, cooking for myself, and generally having to be more responsible with an apartment. I am grateful for the continued support of the Triangle Alumni Club, as they have given me a feeling of Buckeye Pride outside of Columbus.

Over the summer, I have been keeping busy by taking three summer classes, a dance in pop culture class at Ohio State and Psychology 101 and a civil liberties class as a visiting student at UNC. I am also interning at the Northern Orange NAACP by redesigning their website and planning a virtual town hall event. I am planning on returning to Columbus in early August, as I will now be living off campus with two of my friends. I am taking a full course load to continue working towards my Public Affairs and Strategic Communications degrees and my Dance and Political Science minors. I am going to continue as an active member on the Model United Nations team and in the Collegiate Council on World Affairs, for which I was elected to serve as the Executive Secretary. I am excited to return to Columbus and Ohio State so soon and I hope the university can find and maintain a safe way of keeping everyone on campus!

I have been doing really well this summer as things have become a bit more flexible. I am in the pool training around 14 times a week and enjoying my time out of the pool as well. I worked for a power-washing company that was deemed essential during the peak of quarantine so I am currently not working and doing my best to enjoy my last summer before college. I can’t wait for the fall and I am so excited to step on campus no matter what the format looks like. My labs look like they are going to be held in person, while everything else will most likely be online. I have a flexible mindset as I know things will not be back to normal for a while, but I know everyone at The Ohio State is doing the best they can to give students the very best experience possible. I am thrilled to see what this next phase of my life has in store for me. Go Bucks!

Hi OSU Alumni Club of the Triangle! My name is Chloe Smith and I am so excited to start my journey as a buckeye this fall! Although I am extremely ready and eager to get to Columbus, I have been enjoying a surprisingly busy summer. I have continued my employment as a hostess at The Piper’s Tavern, a local Raleigh restaurant. This summer I have also spent quality time with my family. We are definitely an outdoor family, and we are commonly found taking daytrips to the beach, hiking North Carolina trails, or just taking walks around our neighborhood. My sister recently added a new puppy to the family dynamic, which has been an adventure to say the least. Between working several shifts a week and bonding with my family, I have also found some time to catch up with some friends in socially distant settings. This summer I have been trying to experience as many “classic North Carolina/Raleigh” things as possible before I head to Columbus in August. I am currently still in the Exploratory Studies program at OSU, but I have taken a recent interest in the health sciences, and have considered majoring in Respiratory Therapy. However, this is subject to change as my interested areas of study are so wide ranging. I have already built my schedule, which I am thrilled about…except for Calculus which I am a bit nervous for (especially as part of it is online). I am very excited to take on a Beginning Drawing course this fall, and I am interested to see how the class will be presented considering it was recently moved online. I have also found a roommate, also named Chloe, who I am so excited to meet! She is from Cleveland, Ohio, and I’ve recently been picking her brain about things unique to Ohio. Within the next week my family and I are making a day trip to Columbus to hopefully look around campus, and explore Columbus. Regardless of what happens this fall, I am more than excited and optimistic about starting my journey as buckeye…whenever that may be! Go Bucks!
